Which dog breed to adopt

Question

Beagle mix
Hello Kristin, my husband and I are considering adopting a puppy from the shleter. We live in a high rise and the building has a 25lb weight limit. We would prefer to get a dog with short hair that would require less grooming. We don't really want a toy dog (nothing against them), so this really limits our options. We live in a very pet friendly community/location and there is a huge park down the street from us. We found a beautiful female beagle mix puppy (8 months-17 lbs) at the humane society. She might have been tired since she was recently spayed, she was very quiet and gentle but affectionate. I read on this forum that beagles howl loudly when they are left alone, this would be a problem since our neighbours would definitely complain, however, I work from home (travel occasionaly) and my husband has similar flexi hours. We are wondering if we should be considering some other breed or look at a younger puppy. Also, I'm worried about housebreaking since we dont really have a yard. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Answer
Beagles CAN be loud, but can also be apartment dogs and have known of some that were fine in that situation, females tend to be quieter as well. So I think if you really want this puppy it should be ok

And as for house training the best way to go would be to use a crate and keep her in there at all times except to feed her,let her outside to play with her ect and do that for about three weeks, then slowly let her out more
