chichuahua and basset hound

Question
My family owns a male Chihuahua who is 6 years old and neutered. He likes everyone in the family but he has really taken to my mother over the years. I currently wish to get a Basset Hound puppy. The only dogs my Chihuahua has been around are other dogs of his breed that my grandmother and aunt have. However, he does get along really well with them. Do you think he will take to the new Basset Hound puppy or could this result in disaster?

Hello and thanks for emailing, Chi's can tend to only like other tiny dogs or other chi's in genral but you should be able to make the new addition work out provided you relize you cant leave the pup and adult dog together alone when your not there not even for a minute in the first few weeks.
