K9 foot sores

Question
I have a service K9 German Sheperd Dog, Male, 8 years old.  Last February he ran through a puddle of gasoline.  I took him right home and gave him a bath and thought i cleaned his feet well.  I recently was injured and off duty.  I noticed that he has been walking with more and more pain.  i checked the botooms of his feet and saw that he has bloody and scabbed over sores on the underside webbing and sides of the toes.  i noticed that some of these now keep bleeding.  he also has the sores right behind the back pad going up the back of the foot.  they almost look like they are infected and look like little blisters.  I wondered if the gasoline may be continuing to do this.  I am going to take him to a vet after the memorial day holiday on tuesday.  I wondered what you thought.

Answer
Matt,

I know last February seems like a long time ago for something he ran through to be affecting him now, but I'd say its definately a viable theory. The foot pads are somewhat absorbant, so perhaps some of the gasoline was absorbed to where you weren't able to wash it off of him. I'm honestly not 100% sure what's going on - but its definately a good thing that you are getting him to a veterinarian Tuesday. It does sound like something his feet came in contact with, as opposed to any type of allergic reaction or skin problem. Let me know what his doctor says, hopefully they can alleviate his pain pretty soon.

Good luck!
