Period?

Hi there,
i have a 7 month old female puppy, and about 2 days ago i saw a spot of blood on my bed, another spot in her urine and finally now the blood is all over her vagina!!!!
is this like normal?
how long does it last? shall i make her wear pampers? or would that irritate her?
another thing is that shes already been loosing hair from the middle of her back till the end
what shall i do?

Hi Riham,
Your puppy is going through her first heat cycle. Yes she will bleed, and she can get pregnant, so you need to keep her away from other dogs and watch her closely.  There are special doggie pads you can buy at the store, or you can take a child's thick training pants, cut a hole in them, and pull them up over the back legs and put the tail through the hole.  Of course you will have to take them off when she goes potty, but these are thick and will absorb the bleeding.  You will need several of these so you can change them out when you wash them.  She will bleed for about a week.  I don't know why she is losing her hair.  Check her for fleas. That is one of the main reasons dogs lose their hair.
