Question
Hi!  I have a 1year old chihuahua/terrier mix dog, and for a month or two she has been chewing on her front paws and nails on and off.  The nails look bloody.  They are long and def need to be trimmed, but her other nails are white.  I'm not sure if this is normal or if I need to take her to the vet.
  Thanks for you help!

Answer
Hi Brandi,

Thank you for writing to me about Celia.  She sounds adorable but probably has either a yeast infection on her paws or allergies, probably the latter.  If you slowly switch her food to a human grade fish based brand like Orijen Six Fish or Solid Gold Fish and Potato, you may very well see improvement. I would however have your vet examine her just to be sure it's not a local problem like yeast.

Best Regards,
