Question
QUESTION: My 2 1/2 year old male lab/pit bull as acquired staring at objects.  It began with the stainless steel oven drawer.  He would scratch at it and bark.  I opened the drawer up and let him peer inside.  He doesn't star at the door but everything else... the 4 yr olds toys.  cardboard boxes, dvd's, I have tried to distraught him but he will go back to the same item or something else.   He has a great appetite and if I take the object away or touch it he will wag his tail.  If I order him to lay down, he will but then star at his paws, bone......

ANSWER: i am confused....why is it a problem if the dog stares at these things? is he eating them or just staring?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: He stares CONTINOUSLY....  His behavior is not as usual.  Chew his bone, play with the kids, follow me.  No matter where he is he finds something to star at and does not remove his eyes until I distract him.  I guess because of the mix with pit bull, I feel it may be the beginning of agression??? some form of a neurosis???

He has had his reqular check ups, I don't feel this is normal.  He is due back in the vets in 6 weeks. I was hoping you may have run across something similiar and could give me advise as to how to get him to do normal dog things.  Like chew the leg on my table!!  (sorry, those days are over)

Thank you

Answer
i dont think it has to do with the dog being a pitbull. They are only mean if left outside and not made to be part of the family and it sounds like you are ok there. Ask the vet if they can test for a nerve disorder but i dont think i would worry about this. dogs are naturally curious.
