Question
Just got a Havenese Puppy 13 weeks old. He has major separation anxiety..follow us from room to room. the problem is we have to go to work next week and he refuses to stay in his crate he not only whimpers but he jumps up and down and tries to stick his head and bite the cage, it looks very scary and as if he will hurt himself so we end up taking him out, I don't know what to do I can't even leave the house ever since we got him one of us has to be home (me or my husband), can u advise on what we can do?
thanks

Answer
You could try what I do with a new puppy.  At bed time, with a new puppy, I have found lying down in front of the crate like you were going to sleep and speaking softly to it, or singing, until it settles down and goes to sleep works very well.  Follow the pattern, a period of active play, outside to eliminate, and then into the crate.
