Weird Incident

Today my 18 year old daughter came home.  My daughter is not living at home and not looking very good, tired, withdrawn, skinny.  My dog has never reacted, today he freaked out.  I thought he was having a stroke, or a panic attack, he was so scared he couldn't move, couldn't even get up.  He backed himself into a corner and was shaking.  Black Lab, 75 lbs.  He was spooked when he saw her.  What do you make of it, did he see something in her we couldn't see?  It took him 45 minutes to come out of my room.  It was very scary.

Yes, I do believe that dogs can see/sense things that we cannot. If I get upset or stressed, my dogs react accordingly.

I once shared a hotel room with an internet friend that I met for the first time that weekend. My dogs were fine with her at first... going up to her, etc., and then she lit up a cigarette and started smoking (which we don't do here). My dogs all started growling at her and wouldn't go near her after that.

There is most likely something going on with your daughter, and your dog smelled or sensed it. "Tired, withdrawn, and skinny" is not normal. You need to sit down with her and have a calm heart-to-heart talk with her, try to draw her out, and see if there is some way to help her. If she was one of my girls, I would give her a big hug and not let go of her!
