Question
hello, i wonder if you can help me?
My Staffordshire Bull terrier Bitch, Tia, is pregnant.  She has two weeks left until her 63 days!  I have been taking her temperature as advised and her temp yesterday was 100.04f, but today it has dropped to 99.5f.  Is this as sign of labour?  She is going out all the time which is unusal for tia, she seems quite aggitated and doesnt stay still for long, and she is very aware of everything in her surroundings and is barking at noises that she would normally be fine with!  I want to know if she may be approaching labour as I do not want to go out, or sleep through her labour!  What temperature do bitches generally drop to prior to labour, and is this a sure sign?

Answer
Thank you for your question Gemma.
Has she had her shots? Did she have a check up prior to being bred? I hope so. Has she been quite active? I hope not too active.

To me the drop doesn't seem like alot. Her actions are like a pregnant dog close to birth. But some dogs start nesting early. Have her checked up anyhow. Just to be sure. Always a good idea.
The drop is usually below 100 F. But it should be consistant for 24 hrs before you worry. It can occur intermittently for several days prior to delivery, but it will usually be constant for the last 24 hours.

I hope I've helped.
