Question
I heard that rubber toys can cause canine acne. I just bought my rottweiler a kong can this cause the acne? should i get ride of it?

Hi Alonzo,

Thank you for writing to me about your concern with canine acne.

If you keep your dog's toys clean then there shouldn't be a problem.  Put them into the dish washer or soak them in a solution of detergent/peroxide and baking soda - rinse well.  This will keep them disinfected.

Be careful with the Kongs. There was recently a dog that got it's tongue stuck inside, the tongue swelled and it had to be amputated.  Always monitor your dog no matter what toys he is playing with.
