Question
my kolby a 3 year old unnertuerd male hairless chinese crested has blotchy skin on his knees and all down the center of his back-i have read about allergies to soy, wheat ect-i give him bites of my sandwich alot. its looks dry and has white patches and some dark  -i bathe him  about once a week with oatmeal shampoo. could it be his outfit i think its wool-or more likely a diet problem? i would sure appreciate some help as i love this little guy

Answer
Hi Gordy,
Yes, I think part of it could be the wool outfit. I put a wool sweater on one of my CC, and he blistered all over.  I think I left it on him too long. If you are going to put any type of wool or sweater on a CC, I wouldn't leave it on for very long.  He could have allergies too.  Also, because they are hairless, they tend to have skin problems period.  I bathe mine in a medicated shampoo, scrubbing with a semi soft brush on the areas that have blackheads.  If his skin is real bad, let the medicated shampoo soak on him for 5-10 min if you can.  Just don't let him get cold.  I try to do it in the bathroom with a heater on.
I just love these dogs, but they are not low maintenance as many people think!

God Bless,
Becky
