my 4 month old puppy...

Question
Hi, my four month old puppy threw up his food this morning and after that it he threw up frothy yellow looking stuff.  Should I be concerned, or take him to the vet?  Now he seems fine, but he loves ice and when I just gave him an ice cube, he didn't even really touch it.
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Answer
It's possible it was a one time episode - that something upset his stomach and he won't have any more problems.  However, if he is the type of puppy that eats things he could also have an obstruction.  If he can't keep down water then I would take him to your vet immediately.  If he continues to not eat, or vomits again or starts to have diarrhea I would also take him to the vet right away to rule out the possibility he picked up some kind of virus.  You can try giving him a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice and see if it was just an upset stomach.  If you feed him that and he doesn't vomit any more then you can put him back on his regular food.  Hopefully it's nothing serious.
