My dog is too skinny

Question
I feed my boxer puppy chow and science diet dog food. I also mix in Pedigree canned every once in a while. I just can't seem to make her gain any weight she weighs about 46 pounds and is two years old. I really want her to gain some weight but I just don't know what to do anymore. I don't want to give $50.00 for a bag of food either. Have any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Jennifer
Take your dog to the vet for a complete work up. And if you can, just try a premium food for a month and see if it makes a difference, I know they sound expensive but the truth is they end up costing less due to the fact that you are not paying for filler, which you end up cleaning up out of your yard.
She could have physical issues that are causing her not to gain weight, so ruling that out is a must. You can also add some inexpensive high calorie foods like peanut butter sandwhiches, sardines, canned salmon, to her diet and see if that mght help her to put on some weight. A good multivitamin couldn't hurt either,
Good luck with your girl
