Dog food to prevent Struvite Bladder Stones

Question
Hello,

My 2 year old, female ShihTzu just had a rather large Struvite bladder stone removed. I am looking for a healthy long term food to prevent future stone formations. How do you feel abouat feeding her the Innova Evo brands? I noticed you mentioned Sojos in an earlier post. Do you still like that food for bladder stone prevention? I heard that The Honest Kitchen is a dehydrated raw food that gets water added to it and is all natural with NO preservatives. Are you familiar with this food and, if so, how would this rate with other urinary health dog foods? Thank you for your advice and help.

Thank you!
Karen

Answer

you add the meat
Hi Karen,  yes, you can use the Sojos Grain free for struvite stones.  The key is moist food and water with "grain-free" feeding.
I also have some home-cooking recipes, too.
here is the link to SoJo's
You need the green bag only:
http://www.sojos.com/index.aspx?affiliate=petnurse

the link above is FREE shipping in the USA

Also, SoJo makes a nice grain free cookie treat:

You will need the following supplements for urinary health:
Cranberry  ( I get mine from Revival Animal health ( on-line)  They make a nice powder you can hide in the food )
Also, NuVET supplements -  1/2 teaspoon of the powder 2 x per day ....( or 1 full wafer)
SEE here for ordering NuVET ( not sold in stores)
http://www.nuvet.com/81098
Tell them pet Nurse Marie is working with you and your shih tzu.

Let me know if I can be of more help???
