Grain Free Diet?

Question
Hi Marie,

I have an 11 month old Bichon Frise.  She's been eating Innova Dry Puppy since she was 10 weeks old.  I have done tons of research on the best food and decided to settle with Innova.  I do have one question though.

I plan on switching her over to adult food at 12 months.  I was thinking of putting her on a grain free food.  Such as Innova EVO.  The protein level is around 42% and I was wonderin if it is ok for a dog that is 10 lbs to eat a grain free food.

I've heard many mixed reviews.  Some saying grain-free is the best dry diet for any dog of any size.  And some saying that it'll cause my dog to have kidney/liver failure.  What would you recommend?

Also do you have any experience with 'food rotation'? (switching foods from a different meat source every few months)  I've also heard mixed reviews on that.

Thanks, Jessie

Answer
Hi Jessie - first make sure she is taking a good supplement such as NuVET Plus - more about that at the bottom of this note.

Next:  How about mixing the Innova EVO ( adult) with the natural Balance Fish and Sweet potato???  It will give her a good mix of the two and won't be so high on the protiens.  I bet she will thrive with that mix.

As far as NuVET Plus - it is a wafer treat tablet that she would take daily.  This ensures her health and wellness for a long lifetime.  Also, many Bichon Breeders refer to NuVET Plus daily.  Many new littlers will go home with a taste sample and a brochure.
NuVET will keep your baby health and Lessen your trips to the VET.

As for rotation of foods.... I don't know much about that.  I have never used that method here at home or at my Doggie Hotel.
