Canine Seizure Protein Related?

I recently switched my dog's food to a very high quality all meat because she was having skin issues.  I switched her (golden retriever) to Before Grains Chicken and now Buffalo with sweet potatoes.  Within the first week she had a seizure.  She is 15 years old.  Could her seizure be from the food?  She was on a mixture of Science Diet and Beneful Diet food.  Her skin did clear up right away.  She has had 3 more seizure within two months.

Let me apolgize profusely for seeming to have ignored you which I would never do. I've JUST moved and I am in over my head. I also have three dogs myself and am just recovering from a staff infection and I'm told I'm lucky to have recovered. Enough about me.

My best advice to you is to contact my guru whom I credit with saving my Yorkie's life about three years ago. She will not charge you because she ADORES dogs. Her own two lived to be 19 and NEVER saw a vet..amazing! Her email is: DoniaSea@aol.com. TEll her that Sue Behlmar (Buddy, Dixie and Henry's Mom) referred you and you will never look back. She is the CEO of a supplement company and yes, she does sell supplements but this is something you should be doing anyway--supplementing. The difference with Donia (not Sonia but Donia) is that she will TEACH YOU HOW TO SUPPLEMENT AND FEED..her advice is totally invaluable.

Short of this, let me try and help you since I am here. Skin and allergy issues are almost ALWAYS food driven..either this or environmentally caused. But usually it's diet. I would suggest taking your pooch off all commercial dogs foods (too many damn SYNTHETHIC INGREDIENTS and yhou will NEVER figure out which ones are causing the problems but trust me one or many of these lab ingredients IS causing the problem) and learning how to home cook and supplement. I started doing this three years ago and all of my dog's issue improved immensely.

Yes, seizures can be from COMMERCIAL DOG FOODS. Again, I hark back to the ingredients and preservatives used (PRESERVATIVES ARE A HUGE CAUSE OF PROBLEMS IN CERTAIN HORRIBLE FOODS LIKE BENEFUL) BUT mostly its because ALMOST ALL OF THE INGREDIENTS IN ALL COMMERCIAL FOODS ARE SYNTHETIC AND NOT NATURAL...AND there are just too many ingredients. Some dogs simply cannot handle all of the ingredients but finding the culprit(s) is usually impossible. This is why home cooking/steaming and going organic with supplementation is ideal for a dog such as yours. Ok, her skin cleared up but in time, I can almost guarantee that the skin problems will return. Her body cleared up because it detoxed from whatever irritated her from her old food and You may find that in time, her skin will again react to something in the new food. I'm glad though that shes off S.D and Beneful--the two least nutritious but most problem causing foods on the market.

Stop the food you are on. Go back to the old food (to stop the seizures) but then you MUST slowly WEAN HER OFF THAT TOO AS YOU SLOWLY, OH SO SLOWLY, START ADDING HOME COOKED ingredients. Eventually you would like her on a complete diet of protein, veggies, fruits, yams , a wonderful probiotic and a dig. Enzyme. I will not go into more detail at this writing cause I don't even know if you are interested in doing this.

It is NOT HARD TO HOME STEAM FOR YOUR DOG. of course, RAW WOULD SOLVE ALL OF YOUR POOCH'S ISSUES but many people cannot bring themselves to go this route.
