How much does a dog need to drink?

I was wondering,
what would happen to an 80 to 100 pound dog who had drunk about a two gallons of water in the morning, and not drunken until late the next morning?

Hi Miriam,

Really nothing.  Some dogs just drink more in the mornings.  My own dog gets up in the middle of the night to get a drink.  If your big dog is drinking 2 gallons, he is getting plenty of water.
