Ham bones

Question
Is it safe to give your dog a ham bone? He is a medium size shepherd lab mix(65-70lbs.

Answer
Good afternoon, Scott.

I would not recommend giving a ham bone to a dog, even less so if it is a cooked ham bone.

You may consider offering raw bones for your boy, but do be cautions with weight bearing bones such as femur bones as they are very hard and while they can make nice recreational chews, dogs can chip their teeth on them.  If you have access to lamb bones or rib bones from larger animals, those would be better for him.
