Bladder Stones and UTIs

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I'm so surprised today to find my 1 1/2 year old Bichon/ShiTzu female dog and buddy has a large bladder stone and UTI.  My vet has given her anti-biotics and a diet with instructions for follow up X-Rays in a week.  We're hoping to shrink or dissolve the stone.  She weighs about 15lbs.  My question is that I have supposedly done 'the right thing in giving her a half raw food half 'good' dog food' and now she's getting this infection.  The vet said to take her off the raw food immediately.  I thought I was doing the right thing for her.  Can you give me some advise please?

Thank you

Kay

ANSWER: Hi Kay - this can happen to any breed of dog at any time.  Feeding raw is good for many dogs but in this situation your mix may not have been correct.  When you feed raw there are some supplements and oils that need to be added.  Also, I see you did some kind of a combo with the raw and dry dog food.

Don't worry- Let's just get on the right tract now.  YOU need to follow the vet's adivce on the choice of dog food - There are only 2 brands they can put your kid on.  The Hills or Royal Canine are the only ones that can help right now.  In the futue, you may be able to change dog food choices.

To avoid UTIs in the future - please get your little Shih Tzu onto some NuVET Plus - this is an Immune System Blaster / Let's get this kids system back to health.
This is all Natural and Many Holistic vets will refer to NuVET supplements.
Here is the ordering link:

YOUR little one will need just 1 wafer per day - give as a treat or mix into the food ( this treat breaks up easy )

So, Do the Antibiotics, the RX dog food, Plenty of Water and Order your NuVET Plus.

***good luck and keep in contact with me.
Don't worry, this happens often!

Keep this kid drinking - add an icecube to the water dish - makes it taste good and fresh.

QUESTION: Hello again Marie.  I had the surgery for my dog Shandy last week to remove the bladder stone.  Now she's jumping for joy!  Just a quick question:  What kind of treats (if any) or other types of food can I give her.  I will stick to the UTI type wet and dry food, but surely there are other things she can eat.  I guess no bones though??

Thank you again.
