Feeding Toy breed vs. med/large breed

Question
I just got a Toy Fox Terrier puppy at 10 weeks old and she seems to be doing well.  We already had a Pointer/Border Collie mix almost 2 years old.  The breeder gave me a small bag of Royal Canine to start, but she is eating the Puppy Chow that the Pointer eats and loves it.  I thought I heard somewhere that small breeds HAD to eat something special.  It is hard to keep the dogs separate and she seems to eat well, so I'm hoping this isn't a problem.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Good afternoon, Pamela.

First, congratulations on your new pup!  I'm glad to hear she seems to be doing well.

First off, as long as the food you are feeding is adequate for puppies, you can indeed feed both dogs the same food.  You may, though, want to consider feeding a higher quality food to both.  Canidae offers their All Life Stage food that will provide both dogs the nutrition they need and it does have higher quality ingredients than Puppy Chow.

Good luck and have fun with your new puppy.
