Answer
Hello Lynn,
Yes, it certainly sounds like your dog's diet needs tweaking!! Do you use probiotics? Digestive enzymes? Are you feeding commercially? If you are then this could be the problem. If you are homecooking then I suspect that you are quite right..she is not getting the appropriate nutrients and vitamins. You cannot buy these things in a commercial store as most supplements are SYNTHETIC AND BY DEFINITION CREATED IN A LAB. If only people knew that the word 'natural" does not mean organic or without chemicals. Ok, having said the above I want you to start from scratch with your pooch.

First of all, what kind and how are you cooking the chicken? Is it organic chicken or at the very least steroid, hormone and antibiotic free? Is it boneless, skinless? Are you feeding raw or lightly steaming it?

Second of all: Cut out the rice. Rice is grain and wheat and some dogs are highly allergic and will start acting really wierd. People always think that chicken and rice is great and it is NOT. Rice becomes fermented once digested and can make a dog sick. In other words, grains are not good for dogs nor is gluten.

Third: peas, carrots and greens beans? Veggies, IF THEY ARE ORGANIC (meaning no pesticides)are great for dogs but you are doing TOO MUCH. All three together is too much for him to digest. You need to start with veggies that are absolutely pure and easy to digest and not make his digestive system work so hard. Things like Zucchini, summer squash, kate, sea kelp, and many others are IDEAL. They should be pulverized in a blender though andnot cooked to oblivion. Personally, I LIGHTLY STEAM MY ORGANIC CHICKEN AND SQUASH. NO RICE, PLEASE NO RICE OR WHEAT PRODUCTS. He is hungry all of the time because he is NOT ABSORBING WHAT YOU ARE FEEDING HIM...at least not properly. HOW IS HIS STOOL???

Fourth: Are you giving him REAL FOOD (if you write again, I will explain this) probiotics and digestive enzymes? The ideal supplements come from lake Klamath in Oregon and I really want you to check this out. In fact, my mentor, whom I credit with saving my Yorkies life, is awesome. She welcomes questions and charges nothing!! I can tell her that you will be writing to her if you like...she is marvelous. She will map out a diet inc. supplements for your dog that will be totally appropriate and healthy. Just homecooking is not the answer as so many people think it is. There is so much more to be done than just cooking for ones dog.

Ok Lynn, if you would like my mentor's  email address I will certainly provide it for you. If you think you want to learn from her too, let me know. Write to me at : DazzlinDaawg@aol.com and I will give you her personal info. She does work for a Real Food Supplement Company out west and her products are awesome. I have had my three dogs on her probiotics, digest enzymes, APA blend, blue green algae for two years now and my one Yorkie's digestive system NOW blows my vet away. He no longer needs meds and he is truly strong and healthy. Donia does not charge as she adores dogs and I hope that you will feel motivated to contact her and get her wonderful advice.

When I hear from you again, I will send you the info you need, ok?? I don't want to presume that you will want to do this which is why I am not including everything at this time. Bye now, hope I helped a bit, Susan
