Question
Hi there... I am wanting to know what to feed my new puppies... One is 7 months old and the other is 8 weeks old...Both are Mini Foxies - do you have any suggestions.

Answer
Hi there,
Oh my gosh, I have so many suggestions..you have no idea. But I need to know a couple of things first if you don't mind. Are you at all interested in feeding them naturally or homecooking or going raw? Need to know this.If you haven't done any research on this, please do. I know that raw really turns some people off but really it is an amazing way to go.

Having said that there are commercial foods on the market but you must remember that whenever you feed commercially, you must be smart and must KNOW what the ingredients mean. Every dog food sold commercially (kibble or soft food) has synthetic vitmins, nutrients, minerals and other ingredients that are not desirable for pup or adult dogs. As I said in the beginning, I need a bit more info from you in order to really suggest something for you. I do NOT feed my dogs commercially even though there are some higher quality foods out there but that is me. It all depends on personal preference. I feed mine Nature's Variety, frozen, raw food that a few upscale places sell. I have not yet gone RAW (I still have a little trouble with that concept but I'm getting there) as I lightly steam the NV medallions before feeding. I supplement that with organic chicken (lightly steamed),probiotics and digestive enzymes. Ok, if you are new to all of this, I am confusing you and I don't want to do this.

Tell me what you are feeding NOW and we will go from there. There are several 'decent' type foods out there and when I hear back from you, I will try and help you more. For now, the eight week old should be being fed what the breeder gave him. The seven month old is ready for a good, nutritious puppy food (unless you are going to cook or feed raw or even mix the two) and Wellness, flint river, Evangers, California Natural and a few others are some reasonable choices. Please never feed just kibble and there are more chemicals in kibble than soft food.

Let me hear from you and we can talk more. If you like, you may use my private email: dazzlindaawg@aol.com. If you do this, please I.D. yourself in the subject line so I do not delete. Thanks much, Susan
