Feeding my English Setter

Question
I have a 8 month old English Setter bitch who will be spayed
in a few weeks that I received two months
ago I would like to know what kind and how much dog food you
would recommend for her

Answer
Around 3 cups a day should be fine.  Her growth should be leveling off now and her needs may decline.  You should be feeding an all life stages food now. Switching to an adult chow for the larger breeds at 4 months, slows growth and helps develop sturdier joints.

Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs. If she is doing well on what you are feeding, I would stick to it or the ALS version of it.  I hate to say how many cases I know of where somebody was feeding a common brand and the dog was doing fine.  Then they read how terrible it was and switched to something more expensive with ''better'' ingredients and the dog had problems.  Then instead of going back to what worked, they went through a whole series of foods before finding one the dog did OK on.  I think if there was a strong case for the premium foods, I wouldn't read so many half truths, lies, and speculation about it.
