My Chihuahua wont eat !

Hello there !
So I have a 1 year old chihuahua who won't even touch his dog food ! My mother always brings human food home and feeds him and I tell her this isn't right. Everytime we don't feed him human food he won't eat and will just pick at his dog food late at night. I can feel his pelvic bones &his ribs protrude. Should I mix wet and dry food together? He hates the wet food but my vet suggested to mix them both. Also, he sheds A LOT. I mean if you hold him for a minute and then let him go his hair will be all over your clothing. Is this due to a poor diet? Because he never shed in the past...Thank you !

You really need to get him off the human food and eating a dry dog chow.  Have your mother read what the AVMA has to say on dog diets at http://www.avma.org/onlnews/javma/jan05/050115ww.asp

While the wet food works well with many dogs, if it doesn't work with him, give up on it.  You might try adding chicken or beef broth to the dry food for awhile.  

Getting him on a good diet may or may not help the shedding.  Try one of the wire slicker brushed or a Furminator.
