What is a the best, reasonably priced food to feed a mini dacshund puppy?

Question
I am purchasing a mini dachshund puppy for my daughter's birthday this week. I've never owned a dog before, so I wanted to do some research on foods. WOW, kinda wish I hadn't. After 2 days of research I am worse off than when I started. My eyes and my head hurt. For someone who used to think Puppy Chow was a good brand, I am horrified. After hearing about the pet food recall and reading about all the crap they put in dog food, I have no idea what to do. I don't want to feed it corn based foods or meat byproducts, pr dyes or preservatives. On the other hand, I'm not going to feed it better than I feed my own children. I'd love to be able to feed them all organic food too, but that is just not feasible. Everytime I think I've found a good brand, I find another website that says it is horrible. I had almost settled on Eukanuba, but then found a website on how bad Iams treats its test animals. Now I'm back to square one. Please help. I just want the best one I can get for a fairly reasonable amount of money. I also live in a rural area with no big name pet stores. Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer
Great choice!
Remember to watch the treats too. Eukanuba is NOT a good brand of food, just a highly advertised one, much like Purina which is horrid
