tear stains

Question
We have a 2 year old maltese. When we got her we started her on Science Diet. She developed red tear stains and we were concerned. We changed her food to "BLUE" "Small Breed" food. Within 1 week she was snow white under her eyes. Our only problem is she gains weight on it with only !/2 cup a day. We called them and they sugjested that we try the Weight Control and we did. Not long after the red came back. There must be something that her system doesn't accept. "BLUE" food is all natural with no preservatives. Any suggestions.

Hi - Well, yes the Blue is a very good food.  How about just 1/3 cup per day of the dry dog kibble. Also, see if she will eat 1/4 cup of cooked canned green beans with a dash of butter and a pinch of garlic powder ....

If you have more problems : this is my solution for the tear stains....
