Feeding a Plott Hound

Question
We just adopted a Plott Hound from a rescue group.  He's around a year old, weighs 63 lbs. and is neutered.  We've been feeding him two cups of nutro natural choice (herring meal, rice and potato forumla) for sensitive skin and stomachs twice a day.  It's what his foster family (and they know nothing about plotts either) was feeding him and we didn't want to switch.  We don't thihk it's enough food for him, but we have no idea how much, or what to feed a plotty!  Help, please?

Answer
I have my doubts how many Plott Hounds end up in rescues.  One rescue tried to tell my son his dog was a Plott Hound, but I think it looks a lot more like a more common Fox Hound.

Plott Hound or not, usnlees you see problems withthe Nutro, I woudld stick with it unless you find it too expensive.  Most dogs will thrive on most chows.  I wouldn't be surprised if he needs more than that.

Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs. Thank you for adopting a rescue.  We need more good homes for the dogs in rescues and shelters.  Post back if you have more questions.
