Dog Shedding

Question
Hello;
I have a Staffordshire Terrier (Pit)/Lab mix.  The dog's coat is black like a Lab's, and she has the typical tongue spots associated with Labs.  We got her from Pet Rescue about 3 months ago.  When we first got her, she did not shed, but now is shedding quite a lot.  I am curious as to whether this is normal, or could be diet related.  Can supplements help reduce shedding?  Thanks for your help!

Answer
Dogs outfit themselves with a new wardrobe for each season.  At that time, hair falls out in handfuls.  I have had good luck with a wire slicker brush when that happens.  Take a look at this picture,  http://www.photolocker.net/images/Labman/knitanewaster.jpg  Expect even worse next spring.

All but the cheapest chows are carefully formulated to give dogs all that they need for a healthy skin and coat.  For the few that do need a little more fat, a tablespoon a day of regular liquid cooking oil is all they need.
