Bulldog Food problem

Question
We have a one year old 30(kgs)english bulldog. We stay in Seychelles and had been feeding him with locally available Canaillou (rich in beef)in the morning 200gns(0700 hrs) and rice and tinned tuna (also Canaillou) in the evening (1900 hrs)200gms

On suggestion by the vet where we bought him home from at, considering Royal Canine to be the best...we picked up 45kgs (3 bags)of Royal Canine for bulldogs.(445 gms daily)
Maybe we started out all wrong by giving him a larger portion of Royal Canine and not slowly proceeding...however a week or two later we introduced it again now by 10% with his old food. He just picks up pellets from the old food and leaves all the royal canine aside....how do we get him to develop a liking fo royal canine which is good for his health.
Since we both(my husband and I work...the bestoption is to give him pet food and then once a week on sunday only home cooked meals. He refuses to eat when he sees royal canine and initially he used to gobble up all on his plate within seconds and now...he eats hardly 50-75 gms per meal and leaves the rest. He weighs 28 kgs..how do we get him to develop proper feeding habits...Please help.

Regards
Barnali

Answer
Hi Guys...  Royal Canine is not the best for your bullie kid... It has a bunch of fillers and junk...Sorry -
I would continue with the meats you were feeding and mix them into some home-made recipes / JUST try to follow the recipes... YOU can cook up enough for him and freeze it...Take out what you need.
Also, if you want to use the Royal Canine -
do a 50/50 mix of "good" home cooked tuna or that Canaillou with the mixed in Royal Canine.

YOUR dog can tell the Royal Canine is junk because he has had the Good STUFF..... He is a smart bullie.

Here are some Recipes:

Make sure he gets a good vitamin if you do all home-cooking....
I know you are not in the USA - so you will not be able to get the NuVET - sorry...

Recipe:
You may want to try some home cooking /  freeze it up 1 x per week.

Buckaroo's Favorite Meat

1 pound hamburger OR your beef in India
1 clove pressed or finely-chopped garlic * ( YOU can omit this)
- ( if you are taking the supplement)
1 cup oatmeal
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup fresh Romaine lettuce leaves (eyeball it)

Slowly cook the hamburger in a large skillet with the garlic.

Add oatmeal and water and stir while bringing to a boil Turn down the
heat, cover and simmer for 1 minute.

In a blender or food processor, puree the lettuce or chop finely (may
also be juiced). Let hamburger mixture cool before adding lettuce.

Serve a mixture of all ingredients at 1/2 cup for every 10 pounds of
dog's body weight.
Don't give the chi too much lettie.........

The hamburger/oatmeal mixture may be stored in freezer or
refrigerator in individual portions. GET individual FREEZER baggies - Works Great : Just cook this up 1 x per week....Make enough for the whole week.

Keep the lettuce stored separately in refrigerator to serve fresh with every meal as a salad.

Oh, GREEN BEANS-
YOU can add some green beans and carrots a few times per week.
Don't give peas too often, just 1x per week is fine.

Also, a good Salmon oil / pure salmon oil / add 1 tablespoon per day to his food.
YOU can find salmon oil at most pet stores.
( or you can use Olive oil, too)

BEST wishes to you in India!
Thanks for the question...
