great dane puppy

i am fostering a 12 week old great dane puppy who was neglected by previous owner,a dnhe desperatly needs to gain weight is there any type of food the will fatten him up and what brand of food is the best but inexspensive he was on K-Vet but its way to exspensive how is pedigree dog food? thank you -adara

Hi Adara:

Well If you don't have much $$$, then Pedigree will be ok.  I don't like the brand but it will give him the basics.  You can add some cottage cheese to his (am) meal.  Give 1/2 cup of cottage Cheese on top of his food.  Make sure you soak all his dry kibble in some water for 15 minutes.  This will allow the dry food to expand before he eats it.

Danes can suffer from Bloat.  Make sure you read up on Bloat and danses... Here is a link:
