Question
We have a one year old MALE english bulldog. We stay in Seychelles and had been feeding him with locally available Canaillou (rich in beef)in the morning (0700 hrs) and rice and tinned tuna (also Canaillou) in the evening (1900 hrs)

On suggestion by the vet where we bought him home from at, considering Royal Canine to be the best...we picked up 45kgs (3 bags)of Royal Canine for bulldogs.
Maybe we started out all wrong by giving him a larger portion of Royal Canine and not slowly proceeding...however a week or two later we introduced it again now by 10% with his old food. He just picks up pellets from the old food and leaves all the royal canine aside....how do we get him to develop a liking fo royal canine which is good for his health.
Since we both(my husband and I work...the bestoption is to give him pet food and then once a week on sunday only home cooked meals. He refuses to eat when he sees royal canine and initially he used to gobble up all on his plate within seconds and now...he eats hardly 50-75 gms per meal and leaves the rest. He weighs 28 kgs..how do we get him to develop proper feeding habits...Please help.THE PUP IS NOT NUETERED.

Regards
Barnali

Answer
I am not familiar with the Canaillou.  If it is a regular dog food, I would go back to to it if he seemed healthy, good coat, energy, well formed stools, freedom from excess itching, etc.  Is the Canaillou AAFCO tested or perhaps a group from another country?  I know the English and Australians have strict dog food standards.

If the Canaillou is approved by an group such as AAFCO, chances are it is just as good as the Royal Canine.  I know of no comparison tests of different dog foods available to the general public.  I do know that many service dog schools have done their own testing and none of them are feeding the premium foods such as Royal Cqnin.
