QUESTION: I have a 4 month old Doberman and an 3 yr old American Staffordshire that has to be fed a grain-free holistic diet due to allergies.  I would like to feed them the same food to make things easier and less worrysome.  Products i've been researching have been, Orijen, Wellness, Innova/Evo, Merricks Before Grain, just to name a few.  Pricing seems to be expensive for these brands, i'm also wondering if there are just as good but less expensive brands out there that i'm unaware of.

Hello Again Sheri:  YOUR Doberman need to be on puppy food at least 4-5 more months.  Then, later on the two kids can eat the same foods.
Most of the grain frees are about the same price range - GIVE or take a few $$$.  Sorry!
YOU know, to get quality costs a little bit more.
JUST how life is, right?

Here is what I would do if they were my clients:

Dobe - give this kid some Merricks puppy food or the Wellness puppy food:  At 9 - 10 months, go with the grain free formula below:

For the Staffie, Please look into the Merrick grain free ( ocean formula) or the Wellness Core ( ocean only )
Do a slow change over -  take 2-3 weeks and do 1/2 your old food brand and 1/2 the new food brand.

Let me know if you can't find the two brands.  They would be the best if you can find one of them.

Also, some salmon oil - PURE salmon oil - 1 teaspoon for the pup and 2 teaspoons for the Staffie per day ....MIXED into the food.
