Question
hi, i have 2 rottweilers age 3. i have tryed all types of diet over the last 3 years trying to improve their stools, and for the last 6 months stuck with one deit because ive given up trying. they both have very loose stools, like a cow pat. they are now on a dried complete dog food called chappie. is there any natural food i can add to their deit to give them extra fibre ? kind regards sean

Answer
Many people claim canned pumpkin, not spiced pie filling works.  Has the vet checked them for parasites?  Out of 20 dogs I have fed common brands, I have never had to change food to solve a loose stool problem.  It has always been some sort of a parasite.

It could also be over feeding.  Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs.
