Food Problem

Hello I have a 10 month German Shepherd Male, I feed him Innova for puppies (1cup), but he usually never finishes his food. Sometimes it takes around 24 hours for him to eat it. I tried different foods such as Science Diet and Pedigree which he eats more off. I know Innovva is a better diet for him but he won't eat as much. Can you recommend a good source of diet for him?

Hi Albert,

How is weight and activity level? If he's at a good weight and isn't sluggish I would say he's doing ok.

Are you free feeding him, meaning you leave his food out all day for him to eat when he wants? If so I would stop that. He should get two meals a day and be given 20 minutes to eat each one. When 20 minutes is up the food gets picked up whether he's eaten or not. This will teach him to eat when he's fed and can help perk up his appetite a bit. Sometimes dogs who are free just find better things to do instead of eating, especially if they know it'll be there when they feel like it.
