Question
We bought a Shi zu pup his mom is registered and his dad is pure breed. But dad is not registered. How do we prove he is pure Shi Zu and get papers?

Answer
Do you plan on showing your shih tzu?  Do you plan to breed your shih tzu?  If the answer is No to either of those questions than you don't need to worry about having him registered.  If you answered yes to either of those you should check out www.akc.org and read up on breeding and showing and the standards required.  I would think that if you want to show or breed you'd want to have a pup that meets all the guidelines and consider just keeping this boy as a pet.  The cost and procedures for registering him will probably in the end not be worth the papers they will be printed on.  But it can be done and the information on how to do it is on the website.
