QuestionHello
I have 3 wk old shih tzu puppies. There is only 3 of them. They are all good sized but 2 of them are really fat. They were wormed at 2 wks and I'll continue to do so but can they be too fat? This is her first litter and ours too. She is very attentive and she stays with them all the time. I was thinking it's because there is only 3 of them and they can have all the milk they want. My female is also very thin and I can't seem to fatten her up. Are they just draining her?
AnswerHi Kimberly ; As long as you worm them around 5 or 6 weeks of age, all should be well.
I know you will be seeing the vet for a health check so bring up your concerns.
Seems to me they are just getting plenty of MOM'S milk.
As for MOM - please feed her some puppy food. Look for a good brand such as Wellness, Innova, Merrick or Solid Gold.
Mom can have puppy food for some time.
Please put MOM on the NuVET supplement - so many nursing MOMS dog great with the NuVET wafers.
Great for the pups, too. The pups get some NuVET from Mom's milk.
This is Holistic and needs to be ordered thru a Vet or the Manufacture. It is all natural and not a drug.
