Puppy eyes

Question
Yesterday my family checked out some puppies and will probably be buying one of them tomorrow.  However, when I first looked into their faces, I did notice that I could see the whites of their eyes toward the center of their faces. I don't remember that with our last shih tzu, and I think I remember seeing somewhere that ideally, no white should be seen.  Also, the one eye on one of the pups seemed, perhaps, not at the same center as the other.  Hope this makes sense. Not planning to show the dog, but very curious.  Thanks!

Answer
Some eye white is o.k., not all are going to be as dark as others just like people we all are not perfect.  That is why some are in the show ring and some are in the pet store, or for sale on the web from show people (they did not make the cut).  Usually you have 72 hours when buying a puppy to take it to a vet and have it examined for any problems.  I would take it to the vet and have it checked out, if it passes than cool, if not take it back and get your money and then have the store owner or the breeder aware of the problem that is going on.  Sounds like the pup is fine just a little inside eye white and maybe, just maybe a bit of a lazy eye.  I can't say for sure but it is not anything life threatening
or debilitating (like blindness, etc).  But, good catch and I'm happy to know that people are aware and looking for things in the breed that should and should not be there.  Just keep in mind that all though this baby is not perfect, let them know what you like and don't like about her (just so they know your on top of things) and even if you and your family don't take her she was meant to be someones pet and I'm sure she'll find a loving home.  And if it is with your family I know she'll be taken special care of because you know what your doing.  Thanks
