Successful Conception???

I have a couple questions. My female started bleeding today, but I noticed her vulvae a bit swolen since a few days ago. She is on her second cycle and has never mated before. We will be bringing the male over tomorrow so they can get aquainted and I will be having him over every day.  I have heard they are furtile on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th day, but then I have read otherwise. If  you can offer any direction on this I would really appreicate it.

Also, how will I know if she concieved? How can I tell if she is pregnant? A vet?
I'm new at this as you can tell.

Your best and most reliable  way to find out when to breed her is an ovulation  test and that is done with your vet.  He can do a test to tell you exactly when to breed her.  The other is let nature take its course and allow the two animals to show you when their ready.  The female will begin to lighten her flow to straw color on or about day 7 and should start to flag (turn her tail to the side)when touched near the rear and she will mount other dogs or stuffed animals, she will when you bring the male at first be aggressive and when she is ready for him she will back up to him and allow him to mount.  The male will prance and dance and attempt to mount and will almost starve himself if your not careful during mating season so try not to have him over on a full time basis until your female is ready ready for matings.  It usually works better to take the female to the male so that he is in control and the female is more passive in the situations.  However, you can find more information in previous post under breedings that I have done also go to this web page http://www.myrasavantharris.com and get her information and sign up for her chat pages etc.  I have been to her seminars and I have her books The Are Great and well worth the investment.  Hope this helps and you will need those books and she has great supplies as well.  Let her know I sent you her way if you do.  Thanks
