Shih Tzu home-cooking for pets kidney stones; Alternatives for Hills Dog food;

Question
HI....Sammie my seven year old Shih Zu has kidney and bladder problems. very high counts . Has been on Hills u/d because she had bladder stones. Now the vet wants her on Hills low fat. She hates it.  The poor thing is so tired . He also just put her on Zentonil Plus a few days ago. It perks her up only for a few hours. I want to put her on lean chicken diet . What else can I put into the food to make it a complete diet ?  Help !
