Color of my poodle

Question
Are there ever blue poodles with black faces? My poodle was 12 weeks old when I got him, he was mostly black with a some cocoa coloring on his underbelly, and his ears are highlighted with silver and cocoa. He also had a vague streak of grey down his back which reminded me of a skunk, so I named him Pepe.  Now he is 9 months old and he has very dark grey, or dark silver on his back with some black, his face is solid black ,and so are the bottom of his legs and feet. He still has the black ears with cocoa and silver highlights and a slight amount of cocoa on his underbelly. I am trying to determine if he is a blue.

Answer
Hello Sharon,
Due to your description of your dogs color, I would be pretty sure that he is a Blue.  I also have a Blue at home, but he is the oppsite of your boy.  He has lighter silver face and legs but a more bluish/gray coat over his body.  Because the Silver/Blue gene is a fading gene, you might not be sure of the coat color because its always changing and fading.  Your dog may keep his darker highlights, yet continue to lighten some.  Time and genetics will tell what color your dog will eventually be.
