Question
I think our 12 week old  black standard pup got into something on a walk in the
woods where there is stinging nettle yesterday.  He's been up all nite itching and
scratching his legs and back.  Any idea what it could be?   It's really hard to see
through his fur to the skin  i don't see anything that looks like a bite . Could it
be a reaction to the nettle?  If so, what to do?

Answer
Hello Susan,
It could be a reaction to alot of things that he might have been exposed to.  Dogs can react to poison ivy, chiggers, nettles, and a host of things that we humans can be exposed to.  I suggest bathing your puppy with a medicated shampoo that will help with scratching to see if that helps his skin.  If he is still itching, you may need to contact your Vet to see if there is anything that he might recommend.

If he is still scratching after his bath, let me know and I will see what other suggestions I can give.

Hope this helps for now.  If you have other questions, please feel free to ask.
