my shiloh is a very smart dog. the problem i have is i cannot let her loose because she runs off and is gone for hours. i have tried everything to try and teach her to stay with me or close to me but the first chance she gets she's gone

Unfortunately because of the breed and genetics of the dog It will be impassable to bread this. Asking a northern breed not to run is like asking a bird not to fly and a cat not to wander. The breed was bred for thousands of years to do this and training will not change what she is. Even huskies that are supposably border trained will have there day. A friend of mine a couple weeks ago had there boy Moglie hit and killed in the road out in front of there house and he had never once before set foot off the property. Trust is the #1 killer of these dogs. It is always better to use a leash and a fence then a hope and trust.  Sorry I cannot help you here. I feel the northern breed is the smartest breeds of dog. They always question why they need to do what they do instead of blindly doing this. -Michelle B ^^
