Backtracking Pom training...

Question
My lovely wonderful 9 month old Pom was "toilet" trained to go outside at a reasonable age, but has reverted back as of late.  She seems to need to go upstairs, into my childrens rooms, and deficate on the carpet.  I treat her kindly, take her places, brush her, bathe her, and take her out often for her "business", so this sudden backwards track seems upsetting.  She was just seen by our vet (two days before this began happening)so I know it isn't a medical condition.  I feel as if she just prefers not having to bother herself with going outside (we live in nice weather), even though it is closer for her to go outside than it is to travel upstairs.  We crate her at night, and she lasts until morning, so it isn't that she can't hold it.

Help!  I love her and I need advice on what to do.....

Colleen

Answer
It sounds like your Pom may be having an issue that you mght not be aware of.  Either she is not happy with something that is going on at home or something that is bothering her outside of home.  If you go to my web site and click on the links page there are some pionters on house triening.  You may have to start over for a while and treat her like a puppy again to retrain her to what you want her to do.  Make sure you are scolding her so that she knows what she is doing is bad.
Hope you have luck here, I know how frusterating that can be!
