Question
We got our Pom 3-4 months ago. He is 3 yrs old.
I was told he was handed down from family member to family member :(
We are having one problem, when I am in bed and so is he (the dog) and my husband walks into the room,he growls.
Not only just growl but goes into a growling ,showing teeth fit!
He just went after me after I tried to correct him for growling at his daddy,I tapped his butt (I do mean tap,he's spoiled) lol.
He turned and ran after me,chasing me off the bed,his nose touched my arm but he didnt bite.
The only way to calm him down while in this rage is to tell him shut up (lol) he gets quiter and quieter, then he can be touched. Telling him No only makes him more upset,so I can't use that word.
After he calmed down I put him in a pet carriedr for like 10 minutes...
I know i am dealing with skeletons in his closet from the other owners (one had him tied outside and the boy tormented him)..
Oh just a few weeks ago his man hood was removed.
Help please
Jody

Answer
Bad habits are hard to break.  It will take awhile for the
neutering to change his progesterone level and maybe this
will have some affect when it wears off.  He is obviously trying to protect you from an intruder when he growls at
you husband.

For awhile until he gets better adjusted to you try not taking him to bed.  Both of you need to offer he treats
during the day so he comes to both of you.

Just give him time to make the adjustment.
