Coughing Pom

My 10 year old pom has developed a bad cough, where he tries to throw up, but nothing comes up.
Just the hacking cough.  My vet says he has an enlarged heart, put him on heart meds, and fluid pill, also antibotics.  Not working not cough is still there (approx  4 months now.) Vet says nothing more he can do.   Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

AN enlarged heart will cause him to caugh.  It creates fluid in the lungs.  There is no cure and you just have to love him the days he has left.  Make him as comfortable as you can.  If the vet has given you meds then be sure to keep up with them.

I am sorry there is nothing more that can be done.  You can get a second opinion from another vet if it makes you feel better.
