Question
HI TRISH, YOU HAVE HELPED ME SO MUCH IN THE PAST, NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THEY USED TO GO ON THEIR TRAINING PADS ALL THE TIME BUT RECENTLY THEY HAVE STOPPED TELLING ME WHEN THEY HAVE TO GO OUT THEY ALSO STOPPED GOING ON THEIR PADS. NOW THEY GO WHERE EVER. WHEN I GO TO WORK I CONFINE THEM IN THE KITCHEN WITH TOYS, FOOD, AND WATER. WHEN I GET HOME THEY HAVE SHREDDED THE PADS AND THEY GO ON MY FLOOR. WHICH UNFORTUNATLY FOR ME IS CARPETED. HOW CAN I STOP THIS? I REALLY NEED HELP. THEY ARE SLOWLY DESTROYING MY CARPET AND HOUSE.PEBBLES IS 4 MONTHS AND BAM-BAM IS 3 MONTHS. IS IT NORMAL FOR THEM TO GO FROM ONE EXTREME TO THE OTHER AND WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Answer
As far as "telling you" when they have to go out... I wouldn't expect that to be consistant until they are around 6 mo.  And if they backslide as they seem to have-start from scratch.  And as far as the puppy pads getting ripped up-they may need more toys and chewing things while you are away and you can also purchase a tray to hold the pads on that clip onto the pad itself so they are not just laying loose on the floor.  You could also try the puppy litter boxes. :)
You could also try to get a small piece of (like a 5X5)linolium to place on the carpet with a small X pen around it so that they are not on carpet unless they are suppervised or maybe put them in the bathroom while you are gone.
