New Pom and were confused

Question
We just got our new baby pom after loosing our chow of 17years. She is bout to be 7 weeks old. We got her a little early because of surgery/health reason of the breeder her self. So its uncommon for her but she said she was ready. We got her last Saturday. She has been awesome. Tells us when to take her out and has had no accidents. My wife is home all day. We are trying to Crate train her. She will sometimes go in the crate and sleep or play. We have a set up in the bathroom and living room. She had been sleeping in the bed with us to keep her stress level down. But now she is playing, eating and happy. We are not sure where to go from here. Should we put her in the bathroom with kitty gate up and crate open and just let her cry at night? We have soft hearts :). Or should we put her in the crate at night and close the door and let her cry. We just don't know what the proper way to do it. We may not ever have to use but want the option of a crate for safty. She is also getting very very playful and kinda running around nawing at us like she is teething. She has tons of toys and loves her dental chew. What should we do? I think she is doing great for a baby. She loves to be brushed and get effection and wakes us up to go out while she is playing. But we need help...lol

Great site!

Thanks,
MIkeG.

Answer
You are right 7 weeks is really early to wean but under the
circumstances you had no choice.  I would put her in the bathroom with kitty gate up and the crate open for her to
come and go.  I think she is too young to crate for any length of time.  Wait till she is at least 6 months before
crating her all night.

If she is looking for a warm body you can find plastic
disks that you warm up in the microwave and wrap very
securely with a towel so she doesn't get burned and let her
sleep on that.  I would think a good pet store or you Vet
would have them available for purchase.  Just remember to
wrap them securely so she can't get exposed to the hot
disk.

Spend as much time with her as you can so she will develop
a good personality.  Good Luck
