Teeth Cleaning

Hi

My friend owns a male pom for the past 10 years. She is going to have his teeth clean since the last time her vet did it was two years ago. My question is it necessary to have it done. He is knock out for it. Thanks so much

Hello!  Actually, if your friend doesn't clean his teeth herself, then yes, it does need to be done.  To assure healthy teeth and gums later on, right now would be a good time.  Later on his life, if his teeth aren't properly taken care of, they could fall out and he would have to suffer when he eats.  However, to aviod any buidup on the his teeth, milk bones and dry dog food are the best ways to go.  Also Pedigree makes DentaBones, and they are the best!  If your local store doesn't sale them, www.PetSmart.com does.  They are great!
