Regarding my Pom

Question
Thank you last time for answering my questions.. it was extremely helpful. I just had a couple of more and was wondering if you could help. My dogs nails are getting way too large. My previous pom's nails were white and so I knew where to clip. If it was pink I knew I should'nt go that far.. however this dog's nails are black so I can't tell up to where I should cut. Any Ideas?
Also I have been feeding my pom fresh meat and fruits.. but theres a problem... If I feed her meat.. she won't eat the fruits... and.. also her regular food (dry food)... she'll literally wait for me and won't eat until I give her some good stuff... she'll starve herself and act all lethargic. Eventually she'll eat... a little... but shes starting to get picky.
Also... is it normal for a dog not to bark..? she harldy barks... when i leave.. or come back or ring the bell.. or when she sees new people or sees other dogs... Rarely.. she'll bark once or twice.. and that sit... is that normal? Thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Eddie,

Clip off just the tip. (Nails on the back paws don't grow as fast.)  The nail will have a tiny black spot in the middle--that's the quick.  The only way to really learn it is to just do it.  My poms nails are also black and I just barely take off the tip.  It doesn't take much.

Only feed about 1/2 teaspoon of fruit a day.  Mix the fresh meat, fruit and kibble together.  If you feed only fresh foods make sure to prepare recipes that are balanced.

You say your pom hardly barks?  Yeah!  Consider yourself blessed.  I have to warn you though, if she is under a year this could change.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
Best Regards,
Carrie
