Question
I just read about the hairloss in poms.  I have a 9 month pom with the most luxurious coat you've ever seen....He went through the puppy uglies and he loses a little bit of the "fuzzy" under hairs after he baths and is being combed out, but for the most part not much   does this mean that he is going to have this "black skin" disease?  My sister has the sister to him and her hair is much  shorter than his and she lost quite a bit right around her first heat cycle.  I am now a nervous wreck!

Answer
I would suspect your dog will be fine.  Dogs usually have bigger coats than bitches.  Everything depends on the heritage and then the envirnment.  Your pup is at the age that he will JUST start coming into an adult coat and then at about a year they blow again.  You can expect a full grown coat at about 2-3 yrs old.  A bitch will tend to lose some coat with each heat and totally blow after each litter.
There is a specific pattern to BSD.
